TAYLOR SWIFT'S "THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT" BREAKS RECORDS IN FIRST WEEK SALES
Taylor Swift's highly anticipated album, "The Tortured Poets Department," has taken the music world by storm. In just its first five days on sale in the United States, the album sold a staggering 1.8 million copies. This impressive feat places it as the fourth-largest sales week in the modern era, trailing only behind Adele's "25" and NSYNC's "No Strings Attached" and "Celebrity" albums.
The album's success isn't limited to physical sales alone. Swift's 31-track LP earned 2.4 million equivalent album units in the U.S., including traditional album sales and streaming figures. Its deluxe edition generated an astounding 706 million on-demand official streams. If "The Tortured Poets Department" debuts at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, it will mark Swift's 14th No. 1 album, extending her record for the most No. 1 albums among women.
But that's not all. In the UK, the album set a new record for vinyl sales in a week by any album in the 21st century, with over 66,000 vinyl albums sold³[2]. Swift's loyal fan base, known as the Swifties, has once again rallied behind her, propelling "The Tortured Poets Department" to unprecedented heights.
